Juggling at Bartlett

The PE classes that I teach at Bartlett have been working on juggling for the last month. This activity is a great way to work on hand-eye-coordination. The students have been having a blast learning about the different styles of juggling and having a chance to try their skills out! The classes all started with traditional juggling, the tossing and catching of objects. We practiced a specific skill with a juggling scarf, and once mastered with the scarf, we tried it with a ball. The classes did this activity for 2 weeks, with each child advancing at his/her own rate. The past two weeks the classes have been working on non-traditional styled juggling. This includes spinning plates, devil sticks, diablo's, balancing feathers, and walking on stilts! This has been a great unit, and I look forward to moving on to some Olympic games followed by some "fair" games to fit into the school wide reading of Charlotte's Web.
